Have you ever wondered why so many products are decorated pink ribbon every time the month of October is about? If you did not know, pink is the color associated with breast cancer and many countries have day of collection of breast cancer awareness in October. In the U.S., while the month is marked as a month of breast cancer awareness.
They encourage people to buy products that are manufactured especially for this occasion, either pink or simply with a pink ribbon attached thereto for two main reasons. The first is that people will be intrigued by the color and thus show some interest in this topic. The other reason is so that a portion of proceeds goes to programs breast cancer. Many offices also organize parties where people dress pink in color this and make a contribution to a particular cause, which focuses in breast cancer. Women are encouraged to go for checkups and screenings for cancer and mammograms.
Although there is no doubt a noble cause, there is much skepticism about the role of companies in this new phenomenon. People are very suspicious of its intentions, which is supported by higher sales during October. Many people buy these products increased by a genuine concern for patients with breast cancer, but many more people do it because they feel much the pressure to do so. And after all, nobody wants to be perceived as the only person who does not have enough victims and survivors of breast cancer to buy a single product.
